The ChinaTown Cultural Centre has long supported the activities of the Shanghai Kun Opera Society and has been committed to heritage conservation and the development of traditional Chinese culture.
Vision And Mission
The Shanghai Kun Opera Society, created in 1957 with the mission of inheriting and studying the traditional Kun Opera, organizes regular lectures and singing lessons for people from all walks of life.
The Society, whose origins are traced back to the Qing Dynasty, enjoys a high reputation both at home and abroad. Kunqu Maestro, Yu Zhenfei, and a great number of other renowned performers, were all once members of the society, helping it pass on the traditional artistic singing skills of Kun Opera.
